Olefin Block Copolymers (OBCs)
Product Overview
Developed by Dow Chemical, OBCs are environmentally friendly, non-toxic, and recyclable materials.
Their molecular structure features a regular alternation of hard segments (high rigidity) and soft segments (high elasticity).
Key Properties
Excellent dimensional stability
Very low compression set
Outstanding heat resistance, abrasion resistance, and resilience
Easy processing and good workability
Can replace TPV, flexible PVC, EVA, some TPU grades, SEBS, SBS, and SIS depending on application needs
In Short
OBCs combine the softness of polyolefin elastomers with heat resistance close to HDPE, delivering breakthrough performance and expanding application potential.
Recommended Applications
Foamed products
Profile extrusion (automotive, home appliances, furniture, building seals/components)
Soft tubing / conduits
Consumer products
Soft components
Elastic films
Pressure-sensitive adhesives / hot-melt adhesives
Other emerging applications (under global development)
Features: High service temperature resistance, density 0.877 g/cc, Shore A hardness ~75.
Applications: Suitable for TPE, high-performance structural parts, elastic films/laminated materials, and blown film applications.
