ELVALOY® — Dow's patented ethylene terpolymer elastomer (commercialized in 1975)
ELVALOY® is a family of high-molecular-weight ethylene terpolymers with the following composition:
E = Ethylene
VA = Vinyl Acetate or nBA = n-Butyl Acrylate
CO = Carbon Monoxide
High molecular weight design: Highly compatible with PVC; can replace low-molecular-weight plasticizers (e.g., DOP), preventing migration issues
Excellent physical performance:
Outstanding low-temperature impact resistance
Superior resistance to microbial attack
Good chemical and weather resistance
Strong polarity: CO groups provide excellent polarity and significantly improve adhesion
Wide resin compatibility: Works with ABS, PET, PBT, PVC, PP, PE
Rigid PVC sheets/films: Improves moldability and shortens cycle time
Flexible PVC: Enhances weatherability and chemical resistance while eliminating plasticizer migration issues
Small additions of ELVALOY significantly improve gloss, impact strength, and flowability
ELVALOY PTW grades contain GMA functional groups, enabling reactions with polyesters, effectively improving impact modification performance
Improves traction and slip resistance
Enhances resistance to detergent and oils
